Today’s post is a throwback to 2007. (For those unfamiliar with internet slang, #tbt stands for “throwback Thursday,” or, in some cases, simply “throwback to.”) Today’s post is also a nod to “the crown jewel” of Duke University, the lovely Sarah P. Duke Gardens.
Sorry to say, I lived in Durham, North Carolina, for nearly two years before I stepped foot in the Gardens. All that changed on a sunny, spring day in 2007 when I, along with my older sister, my younger sister and her husband alighted on the Italianate-style Terraces—the historic area of Duke Gardens that was first dedicated in 1939.
The walkways were teeming with visitors, and the terrace beds broadcast tulips of every color. Hmm, #tbt: terrace bed tulips. 😉
