A Bit of Earth

Quite possibly, my favorite place in town is Duke Gardens. It is but one daily declaration of the Creator’s handiwork (Genesis 1:1-2:3).

Scattered among the trees, hedges, and flowered paths are benches of metal, wood and stone (natural resources also courtesy of God). I’m always finding new nooks where I can sit, eat, read, and watch the wildlife. One of my favorite creatures is the resident blue heron. He is absolutely beautiful!

. . .

All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful,
The Lord God made them all.

Each little flower that opens,
Each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colors,
He made their tiny wings.

He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell,
How great is God Almighty,
Who has made all things well. [1]
